Consisting of a timber deck built around an old ‘boerboon‘ tree, and situated at the foot of the majestic Glenfield Cliff on the banks of the Assegaai River. Rock Bottom has an ambiance all its own. Far away from the ‘madding crowd’, one can laze in a hammock or tube among the waterlilies on the Assegaai, with the smell of the braai wafting by.
Rock Bottom sleeps 20 and has bunks with mattresses and pillows, drinking water, solar lighting, flush toilets, hot showers and braai facilities – wood is available at each venue at nominal cost.
Hikers need to bring their bedding and personal items, eating utensils, fire lighters and braai tongs.
Portage to Rock Bottom and back is an optional extra – strictly one bag per person and limited cooler boxes.
